Monday 3rd April |
Aran returns, 2.57pm |
Thursday 13th April |
Sadly, Mrs G has not returned and Aran appears to be successfully bonding with an unringed female who first visited the nest on 7th April
The End of an Era |
Friday 14th April |
All change today. No sign of the female who had been bonding with Aran over the past few days but he now has the company of another unringed female who had visited previously but for whom Aran had provided no fish. She spurns his advances and repeatedly nags him until he finally presents her with a large fish supper |
Saturday 15th April |
Yesterday's female still here, less aggressive since she is now being fed and more amenable to successful matings |
Monday 24th April |
Now that all appears well settled between the new pair, Aran's unringed mate is given the name 'Elen', by Glaslyn Osprey Project, after yr Elen, a mountain in the Carneddau range in Eryri (Snowdonia) [Aran had also been named after a mountain in Eryri, yr Aran, in 2015, his first year on the Glaslyn nest]
