Blue 3R7 fledges 7.44am, followed by Blue 3R6 at 11.38am

Sadly, Blue 3R6 is found deceased on the shoreline early this morning.

He had been observed to take off from the nest at 9.31pm yesterday evening, after which there was a splash. At 9.41pm 3R6 was seen in the water making his way to the shore. It was decided not to intervene at that point, due to challenging conditions and not wanting to disturb the other ospreys, especially 3R8 who had yet to fledge.

Subsequent X-ray at Oakham Veterinary Hospital Small Animal confirms no foul play involved. Await results of post mortem for more details
