Loch of the Lowes Nest Stats  -  2014

Friday 21st March

Male osprey observed to land briefly on nest at 1.58pm. Later catches fish in loch. Not positively identified at that time but by behaviour thought to be resident male, Laddie

Monday 31st March

Lady arrives back at 6.49am

In the days prior to Lady's return, Laddie had been working on a second nest in a flat-topped tree some distance from the main nest. During this time a female had joined him. On her return Lady dive-bombs the pair of them, successfully driving off the female. Laddie returns to the main nest with Lady

Sunday 13th April

Egg #1 laid at 12.47 am

Wednesday 16th April

Egg #2 laid c1.39 am

Friday 18th April

Egg #3 thought to have been laid c11.30pm

Wednesday 7th May

One of the eggs is taken by a crow c11.40am*

Thursday 26th June

Unhatched eggs removed from nest for analysis c1.20pm

Tuesday 8th July

Analysis of the two unhatched eggs reveals that only one egg showed any sign of fertilisation and that development had most likely stopped within a few days of laying
